Read Joel 1-3

Read the week of June 27 leading up to July 4

Devotion:

The Day of The Lord is coming and The Lord through the prophet Joel has made it very clear that we should let our children, grandchildren, & great grandchildren know.

Every generation should be telling the next 3 generations about THE DAY that is coming.

It's a real challenge because the apathy is so great in our culture.

People don't want to hear about the evil in our culture. Generally, people feel they are 'good' and that things will turn out alright. People don't want to hear about the evil in their own lives and the evil in their own hearts.

But have no doubt, judgement is coming. The Day that Jesus is coming back with His army to bring the justice of heaven upon the evils of this world is near.

Much nearer than it was in the 8th century before Jesus came to earth the first time when Joel prophesied about it.

The apostle Peter instructed us how to live during this time...

"Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming" ... "So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation..."

So let's continue to encourage our families to turn to The Lord in their daily lives ... because He is worthy of all our praise and adoration. He is God.
